International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated globally on March 8th each year, commemorates the achievements and contributions of women throughout history and advocates for gender equality.

This day is an occasion to reflect on the progress made, to call for change, and to celebrate the accomplishments of women in various fields. International Women’s Day serves as a platform to raise awareness about gender-based inequalities, promote women’s rights, and address the ongoing challenges faced by women worldwide. It is not only a time to recognise the accomplishments of remarkable women but also a call to action to accelerate efforts towards achieving gender parity in all aspects of life. Through events, campaigns, and discussions, International Women’s Day inspires individuals and communities to contribute to the advancement of women’s rights and the creation of a more inclusive and equitable world.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2024, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” underscores the critical importance of prioritising investments in women to drive forward societal advancement. By directing resources, support, and opportunities towards women across all sectors, we not only foster gender equality but also catalyse overall progress. Investing in women means empowering them economically, ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for leadership and decision-making roles. It involves dismantling barriers to their full participation in the workforce and society, addressing gender-based discrimination and violence, and amplifying their voices in shaping policies and agendas. This International Women’s Day, let us unite in our commitment to inspire and foster true inclusion, ensuring that every woman feels valued, heard, and empowered.
